在喧囂和匆忙中平穩前行， Go placidly amid the noise and haste,

並牢記沉默裡可能存在何種安寧。 and remember what peace there may be in silence.

儘量與人為善， As far as possible without surrender

但不卑躬屈膝。 be on good terms with all persons.

安靜、明晰地說出事實， Speak your truth quietly and clearly;

同時也要善於傾聽。 and listen to others,

即使是愚鈍、無知者， even the dull and the ignorant;

也有其自身的故事。 they too have their story.

遠離喧鬧、好鬥的人， Avoid loud and aggressive persons,

他們會惱亂心神。 they are vexations to the spirit.

如果與人攀比， If you compare yourself with others,

你將變得自負或痛苦， you may become vain and bitter;

因為總有人比你差， for always there will be greater

也總有人比你強。 and lesser persons than yourself.

享受你的成就和藍圖。 Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

不管多麼低微，對自己的志業保持興趣， Keep interested in your own career, however humble;

在命運多變的歲月裡，它是一份真正的財富。 it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

謹慎處理生意之事， Exercise caution in your business affairs;

因為世上充滿詭計。 for the world is full of trickery.

但勿因此而對美德盲目， But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;

許多人仍在為崇高理想奮鬥， many persons strive for high ideals;

生活中也處處可見英雄品質。 and everywhere life is full of heroism.

做真實的自己。尤其不要虛情假意。 Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection.

也不要對愛憤世嫉俗。 Neither be cynical about love;

因為在了無生氣或理想幻滅時， for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment

愛，仍如草般生生不息。 it is as perennial as the grass.

善待歲月給予的忠告， Take kindly the counsel of the years,

優雅地放下少年之事。 gracefully surrendering the things of youth.

蓄養心靈的力量，噩運突臨時它將予你庇護。 Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.

但不要讓陰暗的想像折磨自己。 But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.

許多恐懼皆源於疲憊和孤獨。 Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

除了有益健康的紀律， Beyond a wholesome discipline,

也要溫柔善待自己。 be gentle with yourself.

你是宇宙的孩子， You are a child of the universe,

並不比樹木或星辰輕渺； no less than the trees and the stars;

你有權利生活在這兒。 you have a right to be here.

毫無疑問，無論你是否明白， And whether or not it is clear to you,

宇宙都在依其應然而運轉。 no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

因此，與神和平相處， Therefore be at peace with God,

不論你認為祂是何種形象， whatever you conceive Him to be,

也不論你付出多少努力，有何渴望， and whatever your labors and aspirations ,

在生活的嘈雜混亂中，請保持靈魂的安寧。 in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

儘管有著種種虛偽、勞苦和破碎的夢， With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,

這依然是一個美麗的世界。 it is still a beautiful world.

要開心 Be cheerful.

奮力地追尋快樂。 Strive to be happy.
